Weekly Previews for January 11, 2012

This is my huge week (in number of comics), and one day (probably just before it's not my huge week anymore, as these things go) I'll switch to getting my comics on the second week of the month instead of the first. Then maybe I'll be up-to-date with all of the books coming out. But, for now, I'll just mention the slew of regulars that're released this week and comment only on the ones about which I have something to say.

(Also, I missed last week's Previews, but there was really very little to speak of. Only three books I was looking at, only one was iffy, and I was very tired. So, no Previews. Last week, that is. This week, plenty.)

Weekly Previews for December 20, 2011

As I'm sure this'll be my last post before Christmas, Merry Christmas to everyone for whom that means something. For the rest of you, all I have are comics and some good ones at that. We've got two versions of Batman (kind of), Mike Mignola, Nathan Edmondson's new creator-owned series, and more. How much more? Keep reading and find out.

Weekly Previews for December 7, 2011

It's the start of a new month, so I'll be heading to the comic shop this week. Among others, I have the new Animal Man and Swamp Thing issues waiting for me. I'm eager for those (right now) loosly connected books to come together. It should be interesting. I'll also be checking out a new mini on Marvel's side of things. Keep reading the Previews to see what I'm talking about.

Weekly Previews for November 16, 2011

Very small week, with only four books making the Previews. The excellent Wonder Woman and Batman books deliver their third issues this week, and X-Factor has a showdown with major consequences.

Weekly Previews for October 19, 2011

Previews are on time this week! It helps that it's a smaller list (the second week of the month is a killer for me), but it's a meaty one. Two of my favorite books from DC's relaunch, the always-welcome Dark Horse Presents and X-Factor, among others. So, waste no more time, read on!

A Pair of Reviews: Herc #6.1 and X-Factor #224.1

Here're a couple of mini reviews, contrasting the different levels of success of two of Marvel's Point One issues: Herc 6.1 and X-Factor 224.1. Yes, they're a little old by now (the subsequent issue(s) are already out), but they're probably still at your shop. Now you can find which one is a great jumping on point for a great book and which one is a big disappointment (i.e., you'd do better reading the issue following the Point One if you're still interested in the book).

Weekly Previews for September 21, 2011

Technical difficulties prevented this from getting out anywhere close to one time. So, it's not so much Previews as Post-but-I-haven't-seen-the-books-views. So, take what you will from it. I'm still posting it if for no other reason than my own records.

Weekly Previews for September 7, 2011

It's the first full week of DC's new 52, but that only accounts for 40% of this huge week in the Previews. I'm certain I won't be able to get all these books, but I'll need to look 'em over first, won't I? Anyway, I'm short on time and there're a million of these things, so Previews this week come in faux haiku. Enjoy.

Weekly Previews for August 17, 2011

Previews time! Highlights this week are the final issue of Batman before the relaunch and the latest issue of Gladstone's School for World Conquerors. Seriously, if you haven't checked that one out, you're missing out on a great series. You can still probably (maybe) find the first three issues in your shop. Buy them and then buy #4 on Wednesday. You'll thank me. Now, for the Previews!

Weekly Previews for August 3, 2011

In this week's Previews: the penultimate issue of Batman: Gates of Gotham, a few beginnings, a new issue of S.H.I.E.L.D., Wolfsbane's pregnancy comes another step closer to its climax, and Hercules finally gets to the end of his Fear. What's all of that mean? Read on to find out.

Weekly Previews for July 20, 2011

Previews time again! Things are a bit calmer this week. I'm looking at less books this week than were definite buys last week, so maybe I'll be able to afford my next trip to the shop. Let's get on with it, then!

Weekly Previews for June 15, 2011

Life has gotten in the way of the promptness of this week's Previews, but better late than never. It's a pretty small week for me (or this would be even later), but I'm pretty excited about these books. Read on to see what they are.

Weekly Previews for June 1, 2011

I'll be at HeroesCon this weekend, but first comes Wednesday, and that means new comics. And before that is Tuesday which means Previews! The Flashpoint tie-ins start in full-swing this week, but I'm more looking forward to the start of the second volume of S.H.I.E.L.D. Keep reading to see what else is in store for this week.

Weekly Previews for May 18, 2011

It's Tuesday already? My week's flown by. I've got a bit of a mixed bag this week. Some regulars, some extra stories about characters I follow, and some “other” books. Hit the jump to find out what it's all about.

Weekly Previews for April 20, 2011

A few collections making the Previews this week, including the première issue of the new Dark Horse Presents. Other than that, it's a slow week for me, and it'd be slower without mega-crossovers for Red Robin. Keep reading to see what I'm talking about.

Weekly Previews for March 2, 2011

New Tuesday, new comics, new Previews. This week, I'll be looking at several new miniseries, a couple of stand-alones, and an old stand-by. There's only one book from my regular pull-list, but there's plenty to look at, so let's get going!

Weekly Previews for February 9, 2011

I'm starting to think that I should switch my monthly comic day to the second Wednesday of the month. Some of my favorite books — Red Robin, The Unwritten and X-Factor — come out on the second week of the month. (Of course, I say this now, but next month — one of the five-weekers — the DC books, at least, come out the third week. But it's only because of the extra week in the month.)

That is, welcome to this week's Previews!

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Weekly Previews for January 19, 2011

It's a big week for the Previews. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 8 comes to a close this week with an issue released two weeks later than usual to fall on Buffy's birthday. Also out this week is the second dose this month of X-Factor and a few new books. Keep reading to see them all.

Weekly Previews for January 5, 2011

It's Tuesday — Previews time! (It's late Tuesday, yes, but still Tuesday.) Not a very big week for me, with only one book from my pull-list, and only a few others I'm looking at. Still, there are some intersting titles out this week.
