It's another compact week for the Previews. We've only got a few books to look at, but they're some of my favorite books of late. Plus, we've got a milestone of sorts for a long-running all-ages book.
Batman Incorporated #7
- Written by Grant Morrison
- Art & Cover by Chris Burnham
Man-of-Bats and his protégé, Red Raven, continue to aid the Dark Knight in tracking down a shadowy, sophisticated killer. Will these two members of The Club of Heroes become the newest additions to BATMAN INCORPORATED? Or will they die before they can even be offered the chance?
So, I'm guessing the reason this was originally solicited for #6 (and, if I recall, was supposed to be two issues long) is September's relaunch. Things had to get shuffled so Batman Inc. could wrap up well enough (until next year) in August. It's too bad; I thought this comic was going wonderfully and had a long, productive run ahead of it. Right now, I'll take what I can get as the getting is good here.

Detective Comics #878
- Written by Scott Snyder
- Art by Jock & Francesco Francavilla
- Cover by Jock
Off the coast of Gotham City, with no help for miles, the vicious smuggler and pirate Tiger Shark holds Batman captive on his ship. Can Batman escape in time, or will he become food for Tiger Shark's deadly pets? Plus: The saga of James Jr. continues. Is he a victim of circumstance or vicious killer? You decide. Don't miss the shocking conclusion to "Hungry City."
The Jim Gordon story has been at least as good as the Dick Grayson one, and Francavilla's art has been extremely good (Jock's has been good, too, but there's something even more special about Francavilla's). Can't wait for this one.

FF #5
- Written by Jonathan Hickman
- Pencils by Barry Kitson
- Cover by Mark Bagley
The War of Four Cities: Part Two
As the War of Four Cities heats up, the Universal Inhumans enter the fray! What role will the FF play in things to come? Prepare for epic battles, live lost and saved, and the awaited return of a beloved Marvel hero!
Wow. Three of my top books in one week. I feel like I repeat myself with this book because it just continues to be excellent. A small note about the solicit: I think the beloved Marvel hero
returning this issue is Wyatt Wingfoot. Hickman mentioned he'd be returning in the FF panel at HeroesCon.

Sonic the Hedgehog #226
- Written by Ian Flynn.
- Art by Patrick “SPAZ” Spaziante, Tracy Yardley, Terry Austin, John Workman & Matt Herms
- Cover by Patrick “SPAZ” Spaziante
“Genesis” Part One: You know the hero, you know the villain, but you haven’t seen anything like this! Celebrate Sonic’s 20th anniversary! It’s a brand new adventure as Sonic the Hedgehog investigates the disappearance of many woodland creatures, a sudden army of badniks, and the strange sinister man behind it all. It’s an all new beginning!
My kids like the Sonic the Hedgehog comic. They've been reading a lot of the archives from our library and pick up an occasional issue from the LCS. And it's pretty good. Definitely written for kids but not unenjoyable for adults. There's a reason it's lasted so long (226 issues for a kids' comic is pretty astounding, if you ask me), and it's not just name recognition. This is the start of their 20th anniversary celebration and a good time to start reading, so I thought I'd mention it here.
Status: Of Interest.
