It's the start of a full-to-the-brim month for me, with crossovers and tie-ins. I'll have to be choosey and some good stuff may get left behind. Let's look at the potentials for this week.
Amazing Spider-Man #658
- Written by Dan Slott
- Pencils by Javier Pulido
- Cover by Stefano Caselli
CLASSIFIED!
Okay, so I'm pretty sure it's not “CLASSIFIED!” anymore: Spider-Man has joined (the?) FF. It seems like this is about him not quite fitting in with the others — being restrained by his secret identity and by having to fit in a “normal” life around his superheroics. I'm a big Fantastic Four fan and I'd be a more supportive Spider-Man fan if it didn't have the twice-monthly shipping, so this is likely to be one of my splurges this month, barring completely crappy storytelling and/or art.

Incredible Hulks #626
- Written by Greg Pak
- Pencils by Tom Grummett
- Cover by Jock
See the Hulk as you’ve never seen him before: as an international super-spy! With Amadeus Cho as his guide, Hulk dons a tuxedo and enters into a world of espionage, only to find his opponent is…Red She-Hulk? And what happens when Betty finds a new man? Hint: it doesn't really go over that well…especially when that man is one of the Hulk's oldest foes!
Unfortunately, this month — this week, even — has another potentially splurge-worthy comic here. I've fallen in love with Amadeus Cho from reading Incredible Hercules and the series continuing from that. Whether I pick this up or not will largely depend on how well he's written (good chance) and how prominently he's featured (up in the air).

Red Robin #22
- Written by Fabian Nicieza
- Art by Freddie Williams II
- Cover by Guillem March
In the first part of a 3-part crossover with GOTHAM CITY SIRENS and BATMAN this month, Gotham City faces final judgment as the Angels of Death seek to spare the city by finding one person who is without sin. After putting Red Robin through physical and emotional trials, have they found the city’s salvation? What is the one thing they learn about Tim Drake that might change their minds? Guest-starring Catwoman and Batman!
And this is the next reason why this is a crowded month for extras. Man, DC! You're killing me with these Red Robin crossovers! Two months ago there was a two-part crossover; now this month has a three-part! Calm down, guys! Putting another damper on this issue is the guest artist. Nothing against Freddie Williams II, but I love my To-and-McCarthy-drawn Red Robin. Guillem March's cover is awesome, though.

S.H.I.E.L.D.: Infinity
- Written by Jonathan Hickman
- Penciled by Various
- Cover by Gerald Parel
- Variant Cover by Dustin Weaver
Decode the miraculous designs of Leonardo Da Vinci. Devour the truths and reel with the lies of Isaac Newton. Puzzle at the perilous predictions of Nostradamus. Discover the Forever Machines of Nikola Tesla. Stemming from the pages of the most critically-acclaimed series of 2010, Jonathan Hickman (FANTASTIC FOUR, ULTIMATE THOR) and company bring you the apocrypha of the Marvel Universe. The foundations will shake, crumble and fall.
I love the characters and the world Jonathan Hickman has been building with S.H.I.E.L.D. so I will probably bite on this. I just hope the art is up to par. It's always scary when “Various” is solicited for anything.

The Unwritten #24
- Written by Mike Carey
- Art by Peter Gross & Al Davison
- Cover by Yuko Shimizu
The return of Mr. Bun! In between the worlds of story, there is a staircase – and legend says that at the top of the stairs there’s another world entirely. Mr. Bun is going to find it if it’s the last thing he does, and God help anyone who stands against him. Or with him, for that matter . . ..
The first Mr. Bun story was excellent, so I'm eager to see what happens here. I still have not been disappointed with this series, now two years running.
