Post-shop Thoughts, August 2010

The beginning of the month means another trip to the comic shop for me. Sometimes I pass on something I was going to check out and sometimes I pick up something I never even thought about. Read on to see what surprises awaited this month's visit.

I didn't end up getting Deadpool #1000. I was very, very disappointed to find out that Chris Giarrusso's writing and art credits from the solicit were for a one-page pin-up of Deadpool introducing the cover gallery section. Why he got a writing credit for what was essentially boilerplate material is beyond me. Although, I must say that I love his Deadpool — he's so darn cute! — and I almost would've picked it up just for that full-page version.

I also didn't get Spike: The Devil You Know. I didn't even look much at it. I'm still thinking about it, though.

Time Masters: Vanishing Point #1 cover

What I did get, however, is something that I didn't even know (or maybe forgot) about: Time Masters: Vanishing Point #1. It's a companion to Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne from the perspective of the heroes trying to find Bruce in the time stream. I have no idea about it, but I was willing to give it a try largely because I recently read 52 (which I really enjoyed) and seeing Rip Hunter and Booster Gold made me all nostalgic for the characters. I'll see if I actually enjoy the book enough to get the rest of the mini-series.
